Hamsini’s Journey Through Vedic Traditions, Nature, and Spiritual Practices
Hamsini is deeply rooted in the Vedic traditions, with extensive knowledge of Nadis and Chakras. Alongside her understanding of mantras and rituals, she is passionate about sharing these sacred teachings and bringing them to life for those around her.
As an ancient Amish proverb beautifully states, “If you can’t have the best of everything, make the best of everything you have.” This philosophy has guided much of Hamsini’s journey.
Her introduction to Carnatic music at the age of seven sparked a lifelong devotion to this art form. Early childhood was enriched by meaningful conversations with both sets of grandparents, who imparted knowledge of shlokas, mantras, and the wisdom of the Puranas. This spiritual foundation was reinforced by her parents, who nurtured her interest in Vedic literature and offered their unwavering guidance over the years. Drawn to the beauty and history of ancient temples, Hamsini developed a deep reverence for sacred spaces and their associated Sthalapuranas (the stories of sacred places). Additionally, her connection with the Sthalavrikhas (the divine trees in these places) only deepened her appreciation for the spiritual world.
Growing up, Hamsini’s parents maintained lush gardens at home, which kindled her early awareness of the natural world. Today, with her understanding of Shinrin Yoku (forest meditation), she continues to explore the healing vibrations of trees and the subtle influence they have on everyday life.
Her connection with nature extends into all facets of her life. Whether working in advertising, media, or education, Hamsini has always surrounded herself with plants, using them as a way to share the beauty of nature with others. She often brings nature-based insights to her colleagues and students, helping them reconnect with the environment just as she has.
Hamsini’s understanding of Chakras was first introduced by her mother, a music therapist. This profound concept has significantly enriched her practice of music, yoga, pranayama, and mantra chanting, allowing her to explore their impact on the mental, emotional, and physical planes.
Now, with over 50 years of life experience, Hamsini remains committed to new adventures and spiritual growth, eager to embrace the years ahead.
Throughout her youth, physical fitness played a central role in her life. As a school athlete, she pursued classical Indian dance (Kuchipudi) from an early age. From the age of seven, she also began studying various martial arts, which she practiced for over two decades. Following a decade of travel and living abroad, she returned to India at the age of 30 and embarked on her ongoing journey with Yoga and Pranayama.
Diversity has always been the lens through which Hamsini views life. Today, she appreciates how her exploration of different fields—whether in music, nature, spirituality, or physical practice—has enriched her experience and continues to bring fulfillment every day.
Hamsini is also a faculty member at Amogha Ayurveda’s Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program, where she teaches Nadis alongside Chakras, and shares her vast knowledge of Vedic traditions, mantras, and rituals.
